A series devoted to harvesting, preparing, and sharing high vitality foods straight from the Earth.
Join Isabel for a plant walk focused on edible wild plants. We will learn what is good to eat, how to identify it, and when and how to harvest. Putting our new found skills into practice, we will explore and harvest together. After the harvest, we will learn how to prepare the plants into delicious, nourishing dishes and drinks, creating a wild foraged meal, which we will enjoy together. We will also draw from whatever is delicious and available in the garden. This workshop includes an outdoor cooking session and shared picnic lunch.
Isabel Arrieche is a devotee of Mother Earth. Her faith is All is Given. Her practice is through daily preparation of nourishing meals and drinks that enliven the body, senses and spirit. She is a grower, forager, cook, medicine maker, and fermenter. Her foundation is in small-scale “beyond organic” farming, herbalism, cooking, value added products, gardening, permaculture, and environmental non profit work. She is inspired by traditional foods, food as medicine, and whatever is fresh, abundant, and available. She tends the Ananda Ashram garden and up and coming Ananda Cafe.
Ananda Ashram is a yoga and meditation retreat dedicated to inner transformation through meditative understanding. Nestled in the foothills of the Catskill Mountains, it offers a peaceful sanctuary for reflection, nature, and contemplative practice.
