Join us at Ananda Ashram for Navarātri, the nine-day celebration of the Divine Mother.
In the mornings, we chant from the Devī Māhātmyam text, following along with Guruji’s original dynamic recordings as he leads the responsive chanting of his students. Chanting with these recordings continues a practice that has been carried on at the Ashram over many years.
The nine days and nights of Navarātri are considered an important time for physical, mental and spiritual purification and transformation. Cosmic energy is personified and invoked here as Devī or Durgā, Mother of the Universe, vanquishing in battle all the demons or forces of darkness and ignorance.
Tuesday, October 20, is the Conclusion of the Devi Celebration, and is called Vijayā Dashamī, the “Day of Victory”.
