An introduction to the principles and practices of Kriyā Yoga as an integrated approach to the inner dimensions of Yoga.
Through preparatory practices involving awareness, breath, prāṇa, mudrā, concentration and meditation, we will explore how Kriyā creates a bridge between body, energy and consciousness, with an emphasis on direct experience.
Pedro Franco has been teaching Yoga since 1992. He is a physiotherapist and physical educator with postgraduate studies in Neuroscience, Neuropsychology, Psychopathology and Mental Health. His work integrates traditional Yoga, Haṭha Yoga, Kriyā, meditation and contemplative philosophy with contemporary perspectives on the body, breath and nervous system.
Over more than three decades, Pedro has taught and shared Yoga in 18 countries, including India, and has spent extended periods studying, practicing and living within traditional Yoga communities such as the Bihar School of Yoga, Parmarth Niketan and Auroville. He also served for five years as a resident teacher and board director at Brahmananda Ashram and the Yoga Society of San Francisco.
A martial arts practitioner for 48 years, Pedro has trained in Judo, Taekwondo, Muay Thai and Capoeira, and holds a brown belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He integrates this discipline into his work in Yoga, neuropsychology and mental health.
