Sanskrit Mantras -- the vibrations for spiritual well-being, and Music -- the faculty for universal joy. These are the two best mediums to express gratitude towards the Universe. Naren will make this offering on the occasion of the Thanksgiving weekend.

Preceded by Ashram Meditation Program beginning at 7:00 PM (by donation).

Naren Budhakar was born and brought up in the Indian classical music tradition. He began performing Tabla at a young age. A disciple of Tabla Maestro Ustad Shabbir Nisar, Naren has played with prominent instrumentalists, vocalists and dancers including Pandit Birju Maharaj, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Pandit Jasraj and Shaed Parvez. He has performed at prestigious venues in the U.S. and Europe, providing Tabla accompaniment for various musical genres. He is also a disciple of Shri Aditya Khandwe, a virtuoso vocalist of the Gwalior style of classical Indian vocal music. Naren is co-director of the East-West School of Music at Ananda Ashram and as a faculty member teaches and performs regularly.

Indrajit Roy-Chowdhury is a disciple of Sitar Maestro Pandit Subroto Roy-Chowdhury. Trained in the Senia Gharana, which maintains the Dhrupad origins of Indian classical music, Indrojit strives to innovate while keeping a firm connection with the past. He has performed internationally including at Gyan Mancha (Kolkata), Hammerstein Ballroom (NYC) and Kennedy Center (Washington D.C.) and was featured on Indian National Television.
