Mon - Fri only 10:45 AM - 12:45 PM
Note: This includes a 10:45 - 11:30 AM open session, available without registration.

Tuition: 2-week course (10 classes) $200 / single class $20
Study sheets are included.

The course is taught through the unique, interactive method developed by Ashram Founder Shri Brahmananda Sarasvati, with an emphasis on chanting and rhythm. Students will get effective practice in pronunciation and a good introduction to the devanāgarī script as well as to basic Sanskrit grammar, including verbs, nouns, pronouns, sentence structure and sandhi. An important principle to be realized is that the essence of Sanskrit is in its sound. Also included are general philosophy and psychology of language. Students should plan for daily homework of about one hour, especially if interested in learning to read and write devanāgarī.

This course can be an important step in acquiring direct access to the liberating wisdom contained in the ancient Sanskrit sources. It should be combined with the study of original texts of Yoga-Vedānta, offered as part of the Ashram’s morning programs (9:45 - 10:30 AM) and available freely.

What to bring: a lined note book, 8-1/2 x 11 in., and a smooth writing pen, not too thin; also a 3-ring binder.

Call to register. Please see Workshop Registration page.
