Exploring a Different Perspective: Inversion Workshop with Vimala (Tammy) Quinn *
10:30-11:45 AM Eastern Time
Tuition: $20
This workshop is available In-person only. Ashram Covid protocols will be in place, and proof of vaccination will be required.
Learn to go upside down with ease and stability, safely and gracefully! This workshop will give strategies for fundamental inversions such as Sarvangasana (shoulder stand), Shirshasana (headstand), Pincha Mayurasana (forearm balance), and Adho Mukha Vrikshasana (handstand), covering the health benefits of each of these poses. Inversions calm the nervous system and also increase core strength. They provide support to the immune system and can ease the stress of digestion by reversing the impact of gravity. By going upside down, blood flow to the brain is increased, and you can suddenly see the world from a different perspective. The poses will be broken down step by step, including the initial preparatory actions.
This workshop is intended for those who have prior experience, but beginners are welcome. Potential contraindications will be addressed and modifications and substitutions given for all poses.
Vimala (Tammy) Quinn began her practice of Yoga in 2008 and realized soon that Yoga was much more than physical exercise. Her love for Yoga led her to take the 200 hour “Life of a Yogi” teacher training with Sri Dharma Mittra in 2011. She is a certified Dharma Yoga instructor in her 10th year of teaching. Tammy began visiting Ananda Ashram in 2013 in an effort to continue her studies of asana, Yoga-Vedanta philosophy and meditation. Her style of teaching is a classic approach, incorporating asana (poses), pranayama (breathing techniques), chanting and the basic principles of Yoga.
