A popular classic of Advaita Vedānta philosophy\, the Laghu Yogavāsiṣṭha is a beautiful poem in the form of a dialogue between Sage Vasiṣṭha and Śrī Rāma\, tackling the problems of human suffering\, of life and death\, including the way forward in turbulent times. \nThis section will begin reading the sixth\, and final\, chapter of the Laghu Yogavāsiṣṭha\, titled Nirvāṇa Prakaraṇam. In the concluding verses of the first chapter (Vairāgya Prakaraṇam)\, a disheartened Rāma laments the futility of worldly life. Sage Vasiṣṭha sees the young man’s mumukṣutva\, his intense yearning for liberation\, the necessary qualification for receiving supreme knowledge\, that Vasiṣṭha will now be imparting. \nJoin Professor Deven Patel for one or more delightful sessions. Teacher and students collectively work on translating the verses and discuss their meaning. These classes can be taken as a series of 5 sessions at a time (recommended) or as single sessions. \n— The ISEWU (Intl. SUMMARY:Clarity Through Creativity with Jan Greenfield
DESCRIPTION:Clarity Through Creativity: A Workshop for Crossroads\, Questions\, & New Direction \nClick to Register \nThis workshop is for people who feel stuck or uncertain around career and purpose\, money and abundance\, or love and relationships\, or who are simply craving a creative reset. It’s especially helpful during moments of transition\, when something feels like it’s shifting but clarity hasn’t yet landed. \nThis is not an art or writing class. It’s a guided clarity and decision-making process that uses drawing\, image-making\, and reflective writing as tools for insight. You’re encouraged to arrive with a question or dilemma you’d like clarity around\, while remaining open to what may reveal itself. \nNo art or writing experience is needed. Only curiosity and a willingness to explore. Participants are welcome to bring a journal and any materials they enjoy working with\, though nothing is required. \nParticipants often describe the process as deeply meaningful\, and for some\, genuinely transformative. \nYou’ll leave with:\n*A visual reflection of your inner landscape\n*A creative clarity tool you can return to again and again\n*A stronger sense of direction\, confidence\, and self-trust \nInspired by the Painting Your Personal Mythology approach\, the workshop uses intuitive prompts\, visual storytelling\, and journaling to bypass the inner critic and access clarity beneath the noise. The focus is not on technique or performance\, but on listening\, sensing\, and translating inner signals into image and language. \nJan Lauren Greenfield is an award-winning screenwriter\, author\, artist\, and podcast producer. Her work spans film\, podcasts\, and visual art\, including Perfect Jewish Parents and StonerKatz\, and has been featured in Italian Vogue\, the Jerusalem Biennale\, NPR\, and The Times of Israel. SUMMARY:Exploring Participles: A Three Part Overview | Part One: Passive Participles - Past and Present with Indira Bulkin *
DESCRIPTION:Wednesdays\, 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM EST – Online Only via Zoom \n\n\n\n\n\n\nTuition: $180 for entire series \nRegister Here \nMarch 11\nMarch 25\nApril 15\nApril 29\nMay 6\nMay 20\nJun 3 \nThe first of a three-part overview exploring Sanskrit participles and how they bring clarity\, nuance\, and flow to reading classical texts. \nParticiples are one of the most powerful and beautiful features of Sanskrit. They appear everywhere—in verses\, sūtras\, epic poetry\, and everyday conversational Sanskrit—often carrying rich meaning in just a single word. Learning to recognize and use participles is one of the biggest steps you can take toward reading Sanskrit with confidence and ease. \nIn this course\, we will explore participles in a clear\, structured\, and highly practical way. Through guided explanation and plenty of real textual examples\, students will gain a deep understanding of how participles are formed\, declined\, and used in Sanskrit literature.\nTogether we will study participles across major categories\, including: \nActive and Passive participles \nPast\, Present\, and Potential forms \nVowel-ending and consonant-ending declensions \nPractice in all three genders (masculine\, feminine\, neuter) \nWhether you are beginning to work with Sanskrit texts or looking to strengthen your grammatical foundation\, this course will give you the tools to meet participles with confidence and enjoyment. \n— The ISEWU (Intl. Schools of East-West Unity) admits students of any race\, color and national or ethnic origin. — \nIndira (Ann) Bulkin met Shri Brahmananda Sarasvati in the summer of 1971 at Ananda Ashram in Monroe\, New York. The following spring\, she became a full-time resident student at the newly established Yoga Society of San Francisco\, where she lived for several years. During that time\, Shri Brahmananda\, then known as Dr. Mishra\, held Sanskrit classes for many hours a day\, seven days a week\, and Indira fully participated in this program. In the summer of 1973\, Dr. Mishra asked Indira to start teaching Sanskrit. In the early 1980s\, he named her the head of the Sanskrit Department at the Yoga Society of San Francisco\, a position she held until 2010. \nIndira was privileged to study Sanskrit with Professor Robert Goldman at UC Berkeley\, and in 1993\, she graduated with a B.A. in the Sanskrit language\, before going on to earn her Master’s degree in physical therapy. She opened her own clinic\, Balance in Motion Physical Therapy\, in 2009. She was blessed to be able to continue her Sanskrit studies with Dr. Ram Karan Sharma for more than 17 years. She and her husband\, Shanta\, co-founder of the East-West Sanskrit Institute\, have been married for many years and have two grown sons and four beautiful grandchildren. SUMMARY:Sound of Light Experience with Radhika Vekaria
DESCRIPTION:Admission: $40 / Concert + Workshop: $75 \nEarly Bird Special\nConcert $35\, Concert + Workshop: $70 \nRegister Here \nAn immersive live performance of voice\, drone\, rhythm\, and contemporary song\, The Sound of Light Experience unfolds as a carefully composed musical arc rooted in Sanskrit tradition and reimagined through a modern sonic lens. \nGrammy-nominated composer and vocalist Radhika Vekaria brings together invocation\, original works\, and text-based compositions in an evening that bridges ancient resonance with contemporary form. Layered textures\, melodic architecture\, and dynamic interplay between musicians create a performance that is both intimate and expansive. \nFeaturing Steve Gorn and John McDowell\, with Angela Hassan and Priya Luna Spadea. \nWith an invitation of collective voice\, this a theatrical presentation of song as living practice — structured\, intentional\, and alive in the present moment. \nThe result is a deeply felt musical journey that invites attentive listening\, shared resonance\, and a renewed encounter with the power of the human voice. \nRadhika Vekaria is a Grammy-nominated vocalist\, composer\, and cross-cultural concert artist whose work bridges ancient Vedic sound principles with contemporary cinematic composition. Born in East Africa to Indian heritage and working internationally\, she creates architecturally structured musical experiences that explore consciousness\, devotion\, and the subtle mechanics of inner transformation. \nHer acclaimed album Warriors of Light received Grammy® consideration in the Best New Age\, Ambient\, and Chant category\, marking a defining chapter in her evolution as a concept-driven artist. Each body of work is constructed as a cohesive sonic arc – weaving mantra with the contemporary\, storytelling depth\, and live instrumentation into performances that move between intimacy and magnitude. \nAt the core of her practice is a rigorous study of sound through Vedic principles: precision of mantra\, disciplined recitation\, breath\, rhythm\, and the internalisation of vibration (Nāda). From this foundation emerges what she describes as a depth of “freeform” expression – where structure and surrender coexist. The improvisatory passages in her concerts are not casual departures\, but the flowering of studied form. Freedom arises from refinement. \nAs a performer and equally at home at the piano or standing center stage\, Radhika moves between austere vocal invocation and lush\, immersive soundscapes. Sanskrit text and philosophy inform her compositions\, yet they are rendered through a refined\, contemporary lens that speaks across cultures and generations. \nShe collaborates with Gaja Yoga in offering sound-based mantras and instruction rooted in these principles – inviting participants into a deeper relationship with vibration\, voice\, and interior stillness. \nWhether in concert halls\, sacred spaces\, immersive art environments\, or teaching\, Radhika crafts experiences that feel at once ancient and immediate – where sound becomes both architecture and awakening. \nFor more information click here.
