SUMMARY:Yoga Anatomy & Biomechanics I: From the Parts to the Whole - Introduction
DESCRIPTION:Yoga Anatomy & Biomechanics I: From the Parts to the Whole – Introduction\nSun\, Nov 1\n2:00 PM – 4:00 PM \n \nTuition: $35 \nRegister Here \nOption to add-on Ashram lodging for a weekend retreat experience \nReserve Lodging \nThe word anatomy comes from the Greek anatomḗ\, meaning “dissection” or “cutting up”: separating the body into parts in order to understand its structure. This analytical perspective is essential to the study of anatomy and biomechanics. Yoga\, however\, invites us to bring those parts back into relationship and experience the body as an integrated whole. \nThis theoretical and experiential masterclass explores functional anatomy and biomechanics through the lens of Yoga practice. We will examine how yoga practice can affect the joints\, muscles\, fascia\, skeletal structure\, organs and glands. The importance of alignment\, stability and mobility. By separating to understand\, we can then integrate to experience\, developing a more intelligent\, functional and individualized practice. \nPedro Franco has been teaching Yoga since 1992. He is a physiotherapist and physical educator with postgraduate studies in Neuroscience\, Neuropsychology\, Psychopathology and Mental Health. His work integrates traditional Yoga\, Haṭha Yoga\, Kriyā\, meditation and contemplative philosophy with contemporary perspectives on the body\, breath and nervous system. \nOver more than three decades\, Pedro has taught and shared Yoga in 18 countries\, including India\, and has spent extended periods studying\, practicing and living within traditional Yoga communities such as the Bihar School of Yoga\, Parmarth Niketan and Auroville. He also served for five years as a resident teacher and board director at Brahmananda Ashram and the Yoga Society of San Francisco. \nA martial arts practitioner for 48 years\, Pedro has trained in Judo\, Taekwondo\, Muay Thai and Capoeira\, and holds a brown belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He integrates this discipline into his work in Yoga\, neuropsychology and mental health.

The following spring\, she became a full-time resident student at the newly established Yoga Society of San Francisco\, where she lived for several years. During that time\, Shri Brahmananda\, then known as Dr. Mishra\, held Sanskrit classes for many hours a day\, seven days a week\, and Indira fully participated in this program. In the summer of 1973\, Dr. Mishra asked Indira to start teaching Sanskrit. In the early 1980s\, he named her the head of the Sanskrit Department at the Yoga Society of San Francisco\, a position she held until 2010. \nIndira was privileged to study Sanskrit with Professor Robert Goldman at UC Berkeley\, and in 1993\, she graduated with a B.A. in the Sanskrit language\, before going on to earn her Master’s degree in physical therapy. SUMMARY:REWILDING: A DAY OF REMEMBERING - An Immersive Journey into Body\, Belonging\, and Ancestral Wisdom with Dr. Kristy Vanacore
DESCRIPTION:REWILDING: A DAY OF REMEMBERING – An Immersive Journey into Body\, Belonging\, and Ancestral Wisdom with Dr. Kristy Vanacore\nSat\, Nov 21 \n \n$175 per person (lunch and dinner included) \nRegister Here \nMake it a weeekend!\nBook overnight accommodations for Fri\, Nov 20 – Sun\, Nov 22. \n\nClick Here to Reserve Your Stay \nAs autumn gives way to winter and the pace of the holiday season begins to quicken\, we are invited into a different rhythm: inward\, quieter\, closer to what is essential. \nReWilding: A Day of Remembering is a full-day immersive experience created as a place to return; to the body\, to the wisdom carried within us\, to the living world\, and to practices that have helped human beings find their way back to themselves for generations. \nGrounded in the framework of Dr. Kristy Vanacore’s ReWilding Wellness\, the day bridges modern psychology and somatic practice with ancient and ancestral traditions. Drawing respectfully from her years of study and practice within Indian and Yogic traditions\, Southern Italian ancestral healing practices\, and Andean medicine traditions\, Dr. Kristy will guide participants through a rich tapestry of movement\, sound\, silence\, storytelling\, reflection\, ritual\, and embodied practice. \nThe morning and afternoon immersions will include Medicine Dance Fusion\, Dr. Kristy’s signature weaving of Yoga\, Qi Gong\, mantra\, mudra\, therapeutic dance\, trauma-informed somatic practice\, and authentic movement; vocal and sound practices; guided reflection; nature-based ceremonial practices; and the Four Ancestral Healing Salves: Singing\, Dancing\, Storytelling\, and Silence. \nParticipants will also experience a beautiful ritual of anointing with Dr. Kristy’s hand-curated botanical oils and explore simple aromatic and sensory practices that can become part of everyday tending at home. \nThere will be spaciousness\, too. Time to share a meal. Walk the Ashram grounds. Sit quietly. Breathe. Reflect. Time to allow the body to integrate what the mind may not yet have words for. \nThe intention of this day is not to step outside of your life; it is to return to your life differently. \nThroughout our time together\, Dr. Kristy will help translate these practices beyond the retreat space into simple rituals and embodied ways of tending ourselves that can live within busy real-life mornings\, relationships\, homes\, transitions\, difficult seasons\, and ordinary days. The ceremony is not the destination. The life you return to is. \nItinerary:\n9:30 AM–12:00 PM: Morning Immersion with Dr. Kristy\n12:30–1:30 PM: Ashram Lunch\n2:00–5:00 PM: Afternoon Immersion with Dr. Kristy\n5:30–6:30 PM: Ashram Dinner\n7:00 PM: Ashram Fire Ceremony\n8:00PM: Special Event*: Sant Vaani: The Songs of the Saints with Shweta Pandya \nParticipants are welcome to remain on the Ashram grounds throughout the day and join the evening fire ceremony. Discounted overnight accommodations are available for retreat participants. \n*Evening concert admission is included with an overnight stay and available separately for retreat participants. \nDR. KRISTY M. VANACORE\, Psy.D. is a licensed psychologist\, holistic family wellness practitioner\, author\, somatic guide\, and ceremonialist with nearly three decades of experience exploring what helps human beings and communities heal\, reconnect\, and thrive. \nFounder of ReWilding Wellness®\, her work lives at the intersection of modern psychology\, somatic and embodied practice\, ancient medicine\, and ancestral wisdom. Her path has included decades of study and practice in Yoga\, Qi Gong\, therapeutic dance and movement and expressive arts\, alongside deeper formation within Indian and Yogic traditions\, her Southern Italian ancestral healing lineage\, and Andean medicine traditions. \nDr. Kristy is the award-winning author of Rewilding: A Woman’s Quest to Remember Her Roots\, Rekindle Her Instincts\, and Reclaim Her Sovereignty and ReWilding Wellness: Reclaiming Ancient Medicine and Ancestral Wisdom to Revolutionize the Future of Health. She is co-author of the book Ancestors: Divine Remembrances of Lineage\, Relations and Sacred Sites. She has also created an extensive library of practical wellness guides spanning whole-person health\, parenting and family wellness\, seasonal living\, and embodied practices for everyday life. \nAcross her clinical work\, writing\, teaching\, and ceremonial spaces\, Dr. Kristy’s mission is ultimately about bringing the mysterious into the everyday; helping people of all ages carry ancient wisdom\, embodied knowing\, and sacred practice out of ceremonial spaces and into the way they live\, love\, parent\, heal\, and move through the world. At the heart of this work is an invitation to remember what modern life has taught us to forget: the intelligence of the body\, our belonging to the living world\, the wisdom carried by those who came before us\, and the sacred woven through ordinary life. Rather than seeking healing somewhere outside of ourselves or escaping our lives in search of the sacred\, she invites us to inhabit our lives more fully with greater presence\, coherence\, connection\, and reverence.
