Most people think of yoga as a practice for physical fitness, and some, as an esoteric path practiced by a few eccentric individuals in the Himalayan caves. However, in the Bhagavad Gita ("The Song of God"), an authoritative and well-known sacred text, we find that God guides a disheartened prince to practice yoga in the most unlikely of all places – on a battlefield! How can one do this? What is yoga, really? And how can yoga be practiced while living in the world? In his lecture, Vivek Desai will explore this deeply relevant topic for people in modern times who try to apply the ancient – but timeless – teachings of the yoga tradition in their daily lives.
