Autumn Equinox Celebration Practice: Yoga Workshop with Vimala Devi *

Sun, Sep 24

10:00 AM to 12:00 PM

Tuition: $25

Vimala is inviting you to participate in a nourishing practice to cultivate gratitude and transformation as we head into the Fall season.
We’ll begin with some calming breathwork (pranayama) and some gentle yoga stretches to prepare for our nature walk around the lake. We’ll also take a few moments to write down our intentions as we move into the new season. At the end of our walk, we will stop at the Ashram garden to plant our “seeds of intention,” burying bulbs in the earth along with the intentions that we want to manifest.

Back at the studio, we will have an hour-long restorative yoga practice with sound healing. This will allow us to move into the para-sympathetic mode (“rest, digest and repair”), where deep healing can take place. Restorative yoga helps us to breathe deeply and allow our bodies to be comfortably supported with the assistance of yoga props in a safe, nurturing environment. This part of the workshop will help solidify our intentions and allow our bodies and minds to slow down and live more consciously and gratefully in this beautiful season of harvest.

We’ll end in a circle with some silent meditation. Herbal tea will be served along with fresh fruit. Option to stay for lunch at the Ashram: an additional $10.

Vimala Devi (Tammy Quinn) began her practice of Yoga in 2008 and realized soon that Yoga was much more than physical exercise. Her passion for Yoga led her to take the 200 hour “Life of a Yogi” teacher training with Sri Dharma Mittra in 2011. She began visiting Ananda Ashram in 2013 in an effort to continue her study of asana, Yoga-Vedanta philosophy and meditation. More recently, Vimala completed a 300-hour Yoga Alliance Certification and is now designated as a 500RYT and YACEP (Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider). Her style of teaching is a classic approach, incorporating asana, pranayama (breathing techniques), chanting, and the basic principles of Yoga.
