4:00-5:30PM
By Donation
In the scheme of Comparative Religion studies, this workshop will explore what it means to live the vow of brahmacharya (defined by some as "control of the senses in thought, word and deed") as a daily practice. Beginning with teachings from Yoga-Vedantic scriptures, the workshop will also draw on other spiritual traditions to explore components of brahmacharya. Attention will be paid to the teachings of Mohandas K. Gandhi and his Satyagraha work, as an example of how the personal transformation gained from living this vow can be applied toward communal and societal transformation.
