In the scheme of Comparative Religion studies, this interactive workshop will examine Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s teachings on love as they relate to nonviolence and civil disobedience. Particular attention will be on how the Christian understanding of love informed Dr. King's social and political activism. Included will be comparisons to how Mohandas K. Gandhi utilized yogic teachings, particularly the vow of ahiṁsā, within the Satyāgraha campaigns in India.
