Kalidasa may well be the most famous and respected Sanskrit poet of all time. Canto 10 of his great epic poem Raghuvamsham gives the background for the incarnation of Rama as an ideal human king in the Solar dynasty. Kalidasa explores the concept of a healthy union of the mundane and the Divine in the most aesthetically refined way. The gods' prayer to Lord Vishnu contained in this canto represents the heights of philosophy, spirituality and devotion. Policy Note: Participants in summer courses of 1 week or longer who contribute 6 hours/week of Ashram service will receive a 25% reduction on their overnight guest rate.
