Yantra Painting of the Divine Mother - Three Aspects: Durga, Saraswati & Lakshmi with Mavis Gewant

In celebration of Navaratri, participants will explore three different energies of the Divine Mother: Durga, Saraswati and Lakshmi. By constructing her yantra and chanting her mantra, students will deepen their understanding and their devotion to the Mother.
Yantras are made up of complex geometric elements that create a sacred diagram, which is used to awaken the energy of various deities and planets and to make contact with one's inner being. Focus will be on inner process in an atmosphere of concentration, devotion and introspection. No previous art experience is necessary. Materials needed: good quality 140# cold pressed watercolor paper, set of gouache paints plus gold and silver, compass, ruler, eraser, 2h pencil and sharpener, #00, 1, 3 & 5 brushes, mixing tray. Optional large wash brush, board to lean on and lamp. Some supplies will be available in class for a small donation.
