Nurya Gilbert

has been a student at Green Meadow Waldorf School in Spring Valley, NY, where she was first exposed to the culture of ancient India through the school's curriculum. Since age five, Nurya had been searching for the style of dance that would be right for her. She was introduced to Pandit S. N. Charka when she was in sixth grade, and has studied classical Indian Kathak dance with him for six and a half years. She performed in several Ramayana and Krishna Leela dance dramas as well as other dance programs at Ananda Ashram. Now Nurya has graduated high school and would like to share what she has learned from Pandit Charka.
